Perseverance
Humanity is born sinful and in need of a savior. Since we live in a broken world, no one is immune from trouble or pain. Through Jesus alone, man can be saved and go to heaven. Abby Joy was able to declare with her mouth, “I Believe” through the song by Charity Gayle, and she had a pure heart of worship.
James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Joy
Joy is not an emotion based on circumstances like happiness. It is a fruit of the spirit, given by God. It is possible to be in the midst of very difficult circumstances and show the joy of the Lord. Abby Joy remained joyful through trials that most people could never smile through.
Romans 10:9
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Hope
All children are a miracle and created in the image of God. Special needs individuals also have value and are able to achieve amazing milestones and bless people around them. Abby Joy wowed many medical professionals with how far she came developmentally, mentally and emotionally. Many people were encouraged by watching her strength on a daily basis.
Psalms 127:3
“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.”
Why We’re Different
The leadership of Joy in the Journey has personal experience with medical challenges in their family or church. Having lived through pediatric medical trauma has equipped the team to uniquely identify and meet the needs of other children and families who are going through similar challenges. We also understand that a major medical challenge doesn’t just affect that child, but the entire family.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
